The SFC bats came alive today as the Lady Eagles shut out Foothills Christian 10 to 0. For the Eagles, it was their fifth shut out of the year. The win keeps the Eagles atop the Coastal League with a 9 -1 league record. It was a special day on the field as our Middle School Softball team joined us for game, getting on the field during warm-ups with the varsity team, as they look forward to starting their high school playing careers next year. The team was very excited to have their future teammates join them.
The Eagles jumped out to an early lead in this one and never looked back. In the bottom of the first inning Bryn Henson led off with a single and scored on an Olivia Anderson’s double, her first of two hits today. Maddie Binnie was hit by a pitch and Torin Bennet singled to load the bases. With one away, Kayla Crecion stepped to plate and lined a triple to left center clearing the bases and putting up her first three RBI’s of the day. The Eagles led 4 to 0 at the end of the first inning.
The ladies struck again in the second when Anderson singled and advanced to second on an error. Maddie Binnie then singled to drive in Anderson. For Binnie it was her first RBI of the day. Binnie reached on all three at bats today scoring twice and driving in two runs as she continues her productive season. The score was 5 to 0 at the end of the second.
In the bottom of the fourth the Eagles went to work again. Aspen Lee started the inning getting hit by the first pitch she faced. Henson reached on an error and Anderson walked to load the bases. Binnie then drew a walk for her second RBI of the game. Maya Tyzkiewicz reached on an error bringing in another run. Crecion then came to the plate and drove a two out double to left centerfield gap clearing the bases and delivering three more RBIs. Crecion has been a clutch hitter over the past few games and her performance today built upon her great season. She picked up her second double and fourth triple of the year today and is now batting .326 with a .543 slugging percentage.
Torin Bennett had another strong performance on the mound for the Eagles picking up her seventh win of the season. It was Bennett’s third shutout of the year. Bennett allowed only two hits in the game, both to Reese Winchester. She also struck out four Knights. Emma Romeka took the loss for Foothills surrendering seven hits and striking out six.
The Eagles are home again on Friday at 4 pm as they get set to face off with Division 1 Granite Hills before ending their week with a game at Division 3 opponent San Dieguito Academy on Saturday. The stands were full today, let’s keep supporting our Lady Eagles this Friday.
