The SFC Eagles Cross Country team raced into their season on Saturday 8/25 at the Vaquero Invitational in Lakeside. There were 22 teams entered into SFC’s Division and 59 teams at the meet.
The GIRLS started the day with a big team WIN in the Frosh/Soph race. Freshman Eloise Martenson was SFC's top girl finisher with a 3rd place finish overall. Chloe Krome and Camille Needham followed close behind with 5th and 6th overall. Audrey Smith and Nica Zsiros rounded out the top 5 scoring 25 points, well ahead of second place.
SFC’s Frosh/Soph boys followed with a big team win of their own. In the largest field of the day at 134 runners, the F/S boys put 5 in the top 15 overall to secure the win. Lead by Sophomore Ryan Todd 2nd overall, Keegan DeBevers (7th), Ryan King, Matt Lubke, Alex Bobowski rounding out the scoring top 5 - with 44 points, well ahead of second place Mission Vista.
SFC Cross Country Girls placed 2nd overall in their Junior/Senior race as a team, with Kennedy Necoechea and Summer Kloer both finishing in the top 10 (4th and 8th respectively). Other medalists on the day included Madison Miller and Abby Roy. Cara Martinez rounded out the scoring top 5 for the Eagles.
All 27 runners for SFC displayed extreme determination with so many great personal performances that day.
