The SFC Cross Country teams (32 runners in total) competed at the South Bay Invitational in Chula Vista’s Rohr Park on Friday 9/21/18.
It is the one Cross Country meet of the season where all divisions compete together in the same race. 35 Schools competed from the largest Division 1 programs down to the smallest Division 5 schools like SFC. There were as many as 300 runners in each race.
In the Freshman/Sophomore Boys race, SFC placed 5th overall; Lead by Sophomore Ryan Todd’s dominant victory, running the 3.1 Mile hilly course in 17:11 (5:32 per mile average pace).
In the girls Varsity race, SFC placed an amazing 2nd place overall on the day, lead by Freshman standout Eloise Martenson’s 10th place overall performance, running 16:30 for the challenging 2.5 miles (6:36/mile avg). SFC’s varsity girls were tightly grouped with just 35 seconds separating their 1 through 5 runners.
Next up for the Eagles is the Coach Downey XC Classic at Morley Field this Friday 9/28 - JV Races at 2:30 and 3:15. Varsity races at 4 and 4:30 pm.
