Eagles were in their second week of action this week as they took on the Ravens from Canyon Crest Academy in a home and home week, each team getting to host the other on their home course. While the Eagles were defeated in both matches against the Ravens (who have one of the better teams in the county), it was a tale of two days for the boys of SFC.
On Tuesday, the Eagles were the host at Morgan Run, playing the South Course. It was on one of the better rounds of the year for the Eagles, despite coming up short to CCA 185-209. The Eagles were led on the day by Senior Matt Almquist who posted a round of one under (-1) 35, earning medalist honors on the day as low round in the match. The rest of the team pitched in with rounds in the low 40's which helped the team to a score of 209.
Thursday was a different story as the Eagles had to travel to the Ravens at Lomas Santa Fe Country Club. Traveling to someones else's course is never easy, and the Eagles struggles on greens that were significantly faster then their home course, with a lot more break. Sophomore Phenix Rivera was a welcomed addition to our team playing in his first match and posting the lowest round on the team with a 5 over (+5) 41, but the rest of the team struggled with rounds in the 50's, which meant a rough day for the Eagles losing to the Ravens 196-240.
The Team will look to bounce back next week as they open up League Play.
