For SFC Men’s Lacrosse team, this coming week will be the most intense week ever for SFC lacrosse. The team plays 5 games in 6 days. Here is an overview of the week. Based on LaxNumbers, SFC’s current San Diego county ranking is a tie with Cathedral Catholic at #4.
Monday: The Eagles play La Jolla at SFC at 5:00. La Jolla has a few really good players that are playing in college. They are currently ranked 14th in San Diego County. SFC and La Jolla have played 3 common opponents. Torrey Pines beat La Jolla 19-3 and beat SFC 15-7. SFC beat Carlsbad by a score of 14-6 and La Jolla beat them 10-7. Both teams played Poway with the Eagles winning a close game 8-6 and La Jolla losing to Poway three days later by a score of 6-10. SFC has performed better than La Jolla against 3 common opponents.
Tuesday: SFC plays Westview in a home game scheduled to start at 5:00. Westview was the CIF D1 runner-up last season losing to Bishops in the final by a score of 8-5. The Wolverines are currently ranked #11 in San Diego County. We expect this to be a very physical game. SFC and Westview have no common opponents so far this season, so it is difficult to make any meaningful comparisons between the two teams.
Thursday: In a Coastal League match-up the boys play an away game at Pacific Ridge at 4:00. The Eagles beat Pac Ridge earlier in the season by a score of 15-3.
Friday: In a game with huge implications for the Eagles’ season, the boys play an away game at Grossmont at 7:00. Grossmont (82.22 rating points) is currently ranked #3 in San Diego county, a mere 0.44 rating points ahead of SFC and Cathedral Catholic (tied with 81.78 rating points). This is a really big game for the boys and this game is the first game of a key stretch for the Eagles against some top ranked teams. Back in the COVID-shorted 2020 season SFC lost to Grossmont by a score of 5-4.
Saturday: Less than 24-hours after the Grossmont game the Eagles take on the #1 team in the State, St. Margaret’s Episcopal. The game will be at SFC starting at 3:00. Last season St. Margaret’s ended the season ranked #6 in the State and SFC lost to St. Margaret’s in a close game by a score of 8-12 with the Eagles making a late game run.
Five games over six days is going to be a challenge for the Eagles, especially the last two games against highly ranked opponents.
Go Eagles!
