On an unseasonably warm night Thursday, our Santa Fe Christian Men’s Lacrosse team beat the Coastal League rival Francis Parker by a score of 13-2. SFC’s record is 7-2 and 3-0 in the Coastal League.
The defense shut down the Lancer’s offense allowing only 11 shots and 2 goals. By comparison, SFC had 41 shots with 26 of those shots being shots on goal. Leading the defense was DJ Tovtin (Senior) with 3 caused turnovers and a shot on goal. Aaron Bold (Junior) had another standout game causing 2 turnovers. Also causing turnovers were Seniors Sam Cooper, Bobby Berg, and Colton Lehberg as well as Freshman Ben Wakeham. Sam Cooper was stellar between the pipes stopping 5 out of 7 shots on goal (71%). Way to go defense!
On offense, the Eagles pretty much had their way with the Lancer’s defense with 7 different SFC Eagles scoring points. Brendon De Bont (Senior) lead the way with 3 goals and 2 assists (5 points). Bobby Berg had 4 goals. Colton Lehberg and Rylan Goodwin (Senior) each at 2 goals and 1 assist (3 points). Also getting into the scoring column were Matthew Briggs (Junior) logging 2 goals and Trey Adcox (Sophomore) and Parker Guiltinan (Freshman) each having an assist.
A special congratulations to Colton Lehberg who recorded his 500th career faceoff win for SFC by winning the first faceoff of the game and then scoring a goal on the possession.
The next game for the Eagles is Tuesday, April 12th at Poway at 7:00pm. SFC is currently ranked 6th in San Diego County and Poway is ranked 7th. Poway has a record of 6-3 and in their 6 wins have averaged almost 14 goals per game.
