The SFC Track and Field Team is off to a great start to the season, with over 40 athletes participating on this years team! Here are some noteworthy highlights over first three meets from Coach Sturgeon:
Sprinters: The 4x100 team of Sofia Bautista, Scarlett Mercer, Taryn Brown, and Kira Kowalchek, all underclassmen, quickly learned how to race a relay, placing in each meet they have run. Each of these girls is also a standout sprinter individually as well.
Sophomore 400m runners Drew Konsmo, Quinn Noonan, Ryan Rodrigue, and Tyler Tyszkiewicz ran a 3:49 4x400 in their first relay, winning overall. They shave time off every time they race this relay.
In her first HS meet, freshman Yasmina Moore placed 2nd overall in both the 100m and 200m dashes.
Samuel Kramer hit an all time PR on the High Jump of 5’10”.
Ben Rosenbaum, freshman discus thrower, continually sets personal records at each meet, placing top 3 against seasoned throwers.
Kenzie Kennard ran a 30 second PR in the 1600 in her 2nd meet
Amy Wolter ran a 30 second PR in the 3200 this week.
Kate Bobowski set a personal record in the 100m hurdles, and also competes in the 300m hurdles (our only female hurdler).
Evan Smith in his first year has already run a 4:37 1600m and has not shown any signs of slowing down.
Esteban Contreras has shaved time off of his 1600m every week, and at the 3rd coastal cluster won the 800, 3200 and helped the 4x400 team win their relay.
Drew Konsmo sets a Long Jump PR each meet, jumping over 19 feet at the most recent cluster and taking 2nd overall. He also ran a 54.27 second 400m in the same meet, taking 2nd in that event as well.
The Eagles next meet will be this friday at 3PM for the UC Tack and Field Classic!
Congratulations to all of our athletes, keep up the great work!
