SFC's Women's Varsity Tennis met up with the San Dieguito Academy Mustangs, finishing the overall team match with a close 8-10 loss.
Our Singles Players posted wins with Sophomore Kalia Schempp taking one of her matches in a 6-3 clencher while Sophomore Piper Lenihan brought a strong win to the tally with her 6-4 victory. Freshman Catherine Bailey worked strong and hard to claim a clean sweep winning all 3 of her matches 6-2, 6-4 and 6-0. In one of the matches, Bailey came from behind to beat her SDA opponent, a player who had gotten the best of her when SFC last met up with SDA.
The Doubles team of Sophomore Kayla Crecion and Sophomore Mila Sonkin continued an amazing winning streak as they came away undefeated in all three of their matches slamming down 6-0, 6-0, and 6-1 victories onto the scoreboard. Mary Murphy and Andrea Alessio came so very close to claiming a win for SFC as they fought hard to come back and almost beat their SDA opponents but ultimately lost the win in a challenging tie-breaker. 6-7(3-7).
The Lady Eagles will travel next to Escondido on Tuesday, September 27th as they come to the home courts of the Classical Academy Caimans.
