Santa Fe Christian Schools’ Band Director David Hall and SFC student Amber Gokey were panelists at the NAMM Show, the world’s largest international music convention, held at the Anaheim Convention Center on January 23-26, 2014. The NAMM show attracts music industry leaders, famous recording artists, instrument manufacturers and publishers from around the world and had over 96,000 registered attendees in 2014. SFC students Gregory Melconian, Parker Siu and Blain Weeks also participated in the event.
SFC’s Hall and Gokey were panelists in a session titled ‘Practice Personalities for Adults’ that reviewed nine practice personalities based on observations and interviews with 1000 music students. The panel discussion helped musicians get the most out of their practice time.
“It was great to have so many musicians and music teachers hungry for more effective ways to practice. I was glad that Amber and I were able to help steer them in the right direction. It was gratifying to know that we are implementing those same practice skills in our band program at Santa Fe Christian Schools,” said Band Director David Hall.
The four-person panel was chaired by Thornton Cline, award winning Nashville songwriter, producer, performer and teacher with Gold and Platinum records and over 150 songs that have been recorded by famous artists. Also on the panel was professional drummer and recording artist Bart Robley.
