The Girls Softball team honored their Seniors on Wednesday night in their game against Francis Parker. The team also honored Coach Darrell Enderlin, who is retiring at the end of the season, as well. Prior to joining the team at SFC, Darrell served in the Marine Corps for 20 years. He came to SFC in 1992 to serve as the Facilities Director, in that role he helped be a part of the many changes the Santa Fe Christian campus has seen over the years. Not only has Darrell coached softball, but he has coached Flag Football, Varsity Football, JV Baseball. He took over the softball program in 2000 and started his 18 year run as head coach. Coach Enderlin and his wife Karen are moving to Idaho to be closer to their 2 children and 4 grandchildren.
Principal Matt Hannan said, “It has been an honor and blessing to work with Darrell over the past 10 years. He truly embodies a servant's heart and reflects Jesus in all he does. He is a man of prayer and of relationship; thousands of students, parents, faculty and staff have been impacted by the ministry of Darrell Enderlin and our community will mourn the loss of his daily presence. I'm thrilled for him and his family as they begin this next chapter. . .yet so very sad that I won't get to see you each day. Thank you, Darrell, for the endless days, countless sacrifices, and plain old hard work you have invested into this place; you have made a difference in so many lives. May the Lord bless and keep you!”
Athletic Director Chad Bickley had this to say about about Darrell, “Thank you so much for all your time, energy and most of all your heart that you have given to Santa Fe Christian Schools! It has been a true honor to serve next you and see all the lives you have influenced for Christ! Your imprint is not only on this softball field but in every part of this campus. If there was ever anyone needed something to get done you were the first person they called. You will be missed but never forgotten for all the things you have done for SFC. May God bless you as you pursue this next chapter in your life! “
The Seniors and the rest of the softball team struggled during the game eventually losing 18-4. The Eagles next game will be Friday, May 11th at Bishop’s at 4:00pm.
